Entropy: Behaviours of Reaction
Statement
The new works in the series Entropy: Reaction behaviors concentrate on forms of reaction against the establishment in 20th century Europe. On the one hand the series explores the leftist revolutions which challenged communism in decisive moments of the last century. These workers trade union movements and sectors of the political left saw in Stalinism a grotesque deviation from authentic communism. The works in this series focus on different contexts such as the beginning of the Spanish civil war, the 1956 revolution in Hungary, the Prague Spring of 1968 and the Solidarity movement in Poland during the 1980´s. Other works explore how war leaves its mark on people and history. Sometimes these are visible marks left on the skin in the form of wounds, on other occasions the wounds are more abstract but have a dramatic effect on historical events and the dignity of a people, as in the case of the infamous Treaty of Versailles, which led to a new and even crueller European conflict than the previous one.
